Testing Process

Ensure ERRC Codes are met correctly

BEHIND THE TECHNOLOGY

CONTROLLED ERRC TEST PROCESS

1

Each floor of the building is divided into a grid of 20 approximately equal test areas.

2

The test is conducted using a calibrated FCC approved spectrum analyzer and set to the agency’s radio communications system frequency.

3

Each test area will be measured, recorded and stored in the computer.

4

If two of the test areas fail the test, in order to be more statistically accurate, the floor will be divided into 40 equal test areas. Failure of not more than four nonadjacent test areas shall not result in failure of the test. If the system fails the 40-area test, the system shall be altered to meet the 90-percent coverage requirement.

5

When the onsite test is completed, all the information gathered will be downloaded and put into a readable report that will be sent to the general contractor or building owner.

6

If the building passes, the local AHJ will determine who gets the certified passing cover letter along with other documentation of the results. They will also make arrangements with the building owner/contractor to obtain their Certificate of Occupancy.

7

If the building fails, a certified failing cover letter will be sent along with information on a third party AHJ approved ERRC insulation company.
